OH YES I DID.
It was a place called Yasuragi in Tenjin, Fukuoka. Not too far from my language school.
It’s fairly small, so they only serve drinks and marmalade toast, no lavish desserts or anything. Besides, there was only the one butler there when we arrived, (possibly due to the Dontaku festivities going on?) but thankfully we were also the only customers so we got to monopolize him ;D
It was actually really good Japanese-speaking practice though, and thankfully one of my friends is in a more advanced class, so when the rest of us failed at speaking she managed to translate for us.

Here’s the sign that was out front. I wonder who did the drawing? It’s cute~

And here’s Katsu, our butler, along with a postcard of Sebastian Michaelis that they actually just had lying around. I had to take a photo!

That was more fun than I expected it to be actually, I was horribly nervous and didn’t really want to go. Especially when I’d be speaking a foreign language the whole time! But it was really pleasant, and definitely an interesting experience.
And we met the manager too, which is probably the only reason we were allowed to take photos at all. He was really funny too, he chatted with us for a while as well.
Overall: Butler Cafes. They are pretty groovy, and great for speaking practice. GO.
This is where I ate dinner the other day, near Canal City. Oh, Japan…
If you ever get the opportunity, DO ITTTTTT. The baths are so glorious.
Never thought I’d be able to get naked in front of friends and strangers, but I managed! And now I will never have quite the same self-consciousness, I think. It’s a good experience, in an odd kind of way.
First time trying a sauna! And there were waterfalls! And a bath that sent out electronic pulses! And salt scrubs and fun things!
Also they had a scale, and I have not gained weight. I’ve been eating entire chocolate bars, like, daily. And living off ramen and fried chicken. What?

I’m taking off in Tokyo, 4:35pm of June 30th.
..And I’m landing in New Jersey at 4:30pm of June 30th.
This must mean my ‘airplane’ and ‘pilot’ will look a bit like this:

I AM SECRETLY A TIME TRAVELER. IT ONLY TAKES ME 13 HOURS.
In which I explored Nijo Castle, Kyoto Imperial Palace, and Kiyomizu Temple.
And also ate dinner in a restaurant that rotates.
Kinkakuji, Golden Pavilion in Kyoto.
Mt. Fuji viewed from the Bullet Train.
In the distance, that’s my first view of the Pacific Ocean, ever. Weeeelll technically it’s Tokyo Bay, but that opens directly into the Pacific, so it still counts. Eastern Waters~!
